Major smart home device maker Aqara has released its first Matter camera, the G350, in China. The launch follows the product’s debut at CES 2026 earlier this year. Priced at 999 yuan (approximately $134), the device acts as a central hub for the company’s ecosystem while introducing support for the new Matter camera specs via future updates.
The new G350 continues Aqara’s strategy of using cameras as central connectivity points. The hardware integrates features for a Matter Controller, a Thread Border Router, and a Matter Bridge. This allows the device to manage other smart home accessories and bridge them to the Matter standard, similar to the company’s previous flagship hubs.
G350 camera specifications
The G350 features a dual-lens optical system designed for detailed indoor monitoring. It pairs a 4K wide-angle sensor with a 2.5K telephoto lens, enabling a 9x hybrid zoom capability. A motorized pan-and-tilt mechanism provides 360-degree coverage, which works in tandem with local AI algorithms to automatically track and zoom in on subjects such as people or pets.

(The ear-shaped attachments are optional decorative accessories, in case you are wondering their absence from the standard official product renderings.)

Processing happens directly on the device. The onboard AI engine handles facial recognition, gesture control, and sound detection for events like glass breaking or baby crying without relying on cloud servers. For connectivity, the unit supports dual-band Wi-Fi alongside its Zigbee and Thread radios. It also includes a microSD slot that supports cards up to 512GB for local video storage, ensuring continuous recording even during internet outages. According to Aqara it can also save recording to your home NAS, if you have a large setup at home and need more storage redundancy.
What the camera supports in Matter
The native Matter support is yet ready on launch, with plans to roll out in future updates. The initial integration of the camera is expected to focus on the core features introduced in Matter 1.5, which the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) released last November. Under this framework, the Aqara G350 is to support functionalities including real-time video streaming and two-way voice communication. This allows users to view feeds and interact through their preferred smart home platforms without switching to Aqara app.
According to Aqara’s Chinese press release, advanced features will roll out progressively as the standard implementation matures. According to the company, capabilities such as video playback history, motion detection alerts, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) control, and privacy zone settings are scheduled for future updates. These additions depend on the ongoing support within the standard and the company’s development progress.
However, ecosystem wise, SmartThings is still the only platform who claims to support Matter Cameras. Supported SmartThings Hubs include the following with the latest firmware:
- Samsung SmartThings Hub 2015 (Hub v2)
- Samsung SmartThings Hub 2018 (Hub v3)
- Aeotec Smart Home Hub
- Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2
- ThingsOne Smart Home Hub.
Availability
The Aqara G350 Camera is now available in the Chinese market for 999 yuan. The company has not yet announced specific dates for international availability. Aqara usually has regional differences within the same model, so avoid buying from another region as they may not bind with your Aqara Home app. However, for devices with native Matter support like Aqara FP300 sensor, it’s less possible to block them using different regions. The global version of Aqara G350 Camera is coming soon.
