Aqara has released a new firmware update for the MagicPad S1 Plus that adds a pair of significant features for Apple Home users. Spotted by u/Hyder2020r in the Aqara subreddit, firmware version 4.5.1_0051.0017 brings Siri and AirPlay streaming to the company's slick light switch and home dashboard combo.
Aqara MagicPad S1 Plus: installation and requirements

Before we dive into what Siri and AirPlay bring to the table, it is important to note that an Apple HomePod is required to enable the new features. Although the MagicPad will respond to queries on-device, processing voice commands actually takes place behind the scenes through a HomePod connected to the same home network.
We've seen this type of integration before in ecobee's line of smart thermostats, and while slower than using Apple's smart speaker, just having another Siri device available in another part of the home is a worthy tradeoff.

With that out of the way, owners can head to the Aqara Home app and download the latest firmware via device settings for the MagicPad. After installation, a new banner will appear at the top of the Apple Home app stating that it can now be used with Siri, and users will only need to tap the Use Siri button to activate.
Once enabled, additional settings for Siri and AirPlay can be found by tapping the MagicPad device tile in Apple Home.
Aqara MagicPad S1 Plus: Siri and AirPlay, and more

With today's addition of Siri, MagicPad owners can now summon the virtual assistant hands-free just like they would with an Apple HomePod. Users can issue voice commands such as "Hey Siri, turn on the lights" and "Siri, is the front door locked?" to monitor and control Matter and HomeKit devices linked to Apple Home.
Siri can also respond to Personal Content requests and general informational queries. These include sending text messages to family members, setting timers, adding items to a Reminders list, and answering phrases like "what's the weather outside?".

Moving over to AirPlay, the new firmware update enables Aqara's MagicPad S1 Plus to function as a speaker for music, podcasts, and more. With AirPlay enabled, users can select the MagicPad as a target for audio streaming through Control Center on their iPhone or iPad, or via an in-app AirPlay button just like they would with a smart speaker or TV.
Users can link audio services such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, or Pandora through the Apple Home app. They can also assign a Primary User, a setting that determines whose library to play from if Siri does not recognize a voice.

The addition of AirPlay and Siri takes Aqara's feature-rich home dashboard/light switch to the next level. For a quick refresher, here are some of its highlights:
