ABB’s Eve Systems has taken the wraps off an all-new Matter-over-Thread smart thermostat at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. As with previous Eve devices, the company’s upcoming thermostat is a privacy-first HVAC solution that operates without the need for a subscription, user account, or cloud connection.
"We are proud to introduce a thermostat that not only sets a new standard for comfort and ease of use but also respects user privacy and avoids unnecessary fees," says Benjamin Wilms, Product Line Leader Home Automation at ABB. "With Eve Thermostat, homeowners enjoy effortless climate control that is intelligent, private, and subscription-free."
Eve Thermostat: minimal design, minimal connections

The new Eve Thermostat sports an all-white chassis with a clean, minimalistic design that puts current temperature conditions front and center with a large, easy-to-read display. Underneath are dedicated controls for quick temperature adjustments, and the display can be customized through the Eve Home mobile app, enabling owners to launch presets, switch heating and cooling modes, and access fan settings effortlessly.
According to Eve, installing the thermostat is “quick & easy” with step-by-step guidance provided by the aforementioned mobile app. To aid in the installation process, Eve provides an optional wall trim plate that rests behind the thermostat in the box, which is designed to cover imperfections, holes, and uneven surfaces.

When it comes to smart home features, Eve’s thermostat supports all the essentials: remote app and voice controls, scheduling, presence-based automation, and visual indicators that encourage energy-efficient temperature adjustments. And of course, with support for Matter baked in, the Eve Thermostat seamlessly integrates with major smart home ecosystems like Apple Home, Alexa, SmartThings, and Google Home.
Unlike other thermostats that rely on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the Eve Thermostat utilizes Thread wireless mesh networking technology for its smart home connectivity. While it requires a Border Router—such as an Apple HomePod—Thread allows the thermostat to operate 100% locally by pairing directly with Matter ecosystems, bypassing the account registration requirement and tracking typically seen with other devices.
Eve Thermostat: pricing and availability

Eve's new smart thermostat will be available for purchase in Q1 2026 at evehome.com and through retailers including Amazon and Apple. The thermostat will be priced at $129.95 at launch, and an optional C-wire power adapter will also be available to ensure compatibility for older HVAC systems.
