While most vendors at CES 2026 are showcasing product roadmaps for the upcoming year, Savant’s GE Lighting brand is using the annual event to announce the immediate launch of a series of smart window shades. The new GE Smart Shade line focuses on simplicity with easy installation and effortless Matter-over-Thread connectivity that makes them ready for pairing right out of the box.
“Many smart shades feel intimidating or overly complicated. GE smart shades take a different approach - focusing on simplicity, flexibility, and a clean aesthetic that fits naturally into everyday homes,” said Kara Perdue, VP of Product Management at GE Lighting, a Savant company.”
GE Smart Shades: multiple fabrics and Thread

Similar to other smart window blinds on the market today, GE’s new shades utilize an integrated roller and motor system that span a wide variety of window sizes, ranging from 24-38-inches wide and 76 inches high. All of GE’s shades feature an aluminum frame and are available in blackout and light-filtering fabrics with two color options to choose from—a clean white, or a sleek modern gray.
The GE Smart Shades are powered by an integrated battery which the company claims lasts up to six months per charge with normal usage, and they can be topped off in place with an included magnetic charging cable. Also included in the box is a physical remote control, and a unique mounting plate system that enables what the company calls a “screw-free” installation process.

With Matter-compatibility, the GE Smart Shades support remote and voice controls through smart home ecosystems like Samsung’s SmartThings, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Home. The shades connect to all the major platforms wirelessly over Thread mesh networking technology without the need for a dedicated GE hub, but does require a Border Router for operation.
Through Matter, users can set schedules that open and close the shades automatically throughout the day, and include them in scenes and automation with other smart home devices. Although users will most likely rely on their preferred ecosystem for control, it is currently unclear as to whether or not Savant’s GE Cync Lighting app will support the shades.
GE Smart Shades: pricing and availability

The GE Smart Shade lineup is available for purchase today through shop.gelighting.com and Amazon. Prices range from $299.99-$369.99 depending on selected size/fabric options, with shipping beginning within 1-2 days.
