Unlike Matter-compatible window blinds, which are typically designed as a complete replacement, the new Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit for Small Tube Diameters is an affordable, DIY-friendly retrofit solution that brings smart home controls to existing window coverings.

Like the original Matter model, the smaller Eve MotionBlinds kit comprises brackets, adapters, covers, and a motor unit that, when fully assembled, slots neatly into the tubes of roller shades. Compared to the original, larger model that supported tubes with an outer diameter between 38-51mm, the new compact motor fits non-slotted tubes sized 25–30 mm with a minimum width of 57 cm.
The Eve MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit for Small Tubes is powered by an internal rechargeable battery that offers up to one year of runtime with typical use. When battery levels are low, users can connect a standard 5V USB-C cable to the integrated port on the motor, and while not specifically offered by Eve, third-party solar panel options are available that can make the entire installation wireless and hassle-free if desired.
As with other Eve smart home products, the MotionBlinds Upgrade Kit connects to smart home ecosystems like Google Home, SmartThings, Alexa, and Apple Home via Matter-over-Thread mesh networking technology. Users with an active Thread Border Router can add the kit to their preferred smart home platform in a matter of seconds simply by scanning the included Matter QR pairing code—no account registration or additional app download required.
