Govee, a notable Matter lights maker, has had a new pendant light certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) last week. This move suggests the light will be officially available soon, adding more options for kitchen lighting.
Govee has introduced several smart lighting devices this year that are natively compatible for Matter smart homes, designed for different settings, including outdoor spaces and gaming rooms. The addition of the Govee Pendant Light marks another step in the company's aim to address broader home lighting needs.
Design for kitchen and home spaces
The Govee Pendant Light was first displayed at the company’s booth at CES 2025 earlier this year. Videos from the event showed the pendant featuring a minimalist style, with a slim, rounded profile and a translucent outer shell. The inner casing seems to feature a matte finish, designed to create a uniform and balanced light glow.
Demonstrations indicated the light supports RGB color mixing and smooth gradient effects. This style of pendant light is often found in kitchen settings as a primary overhead light. With its customizable effects, users can adjust the atmosphere of the space as needed.

The recent certification confirms Matter compatibility, allowing users to control color, power, and brightness from supported platforms. Features like group control and firmware updates through Matter are also potentially supported, increasing flexibility without the vendor app.
The product is certified under Matter 1.3, ensuring improved connectivity and reliability compared to earlier versions. However, no additional unique features for lighting have been listed in this version. The certification details also show that the light would work via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Availability
Govee has yet to provide an official release date or pricing information for the new pendant light. A company spokesperson told Matter Alpha that more details are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2025. The light may also appear in upcoming industry shows, such as IFA 2025.
