Govee has confirmed the release of its Strip Light 2, boasting 16 million colors and shipping in four length options. With RGBWWIC 5-in-1 LEDs and 24 LEDs per meter, this new lighting solution has Matter support and can be used to deliver everything from TV room ambiance to warm nighttime tones.
Exploring the Govee Strip Light 2
Boasting Matter compatibility for basic smart home integrations and full control via the Govee app, the Govee Strip Light 2 comes in four length options (9.8ft, 16.4ft, 32.8ft, and 65.6ft), with prices ranging from $49.99 to $139.99. Note that despite length, the strip can be cut to fit your design requirements.
Over 100 preset scene modes, combined color temperature and brightness controls, and Govee’s AI lighting bot can all be accessed from the app. Matter support means the Strip Light 2 can be used with Samsung SmartThings, Apple Home, Google Home, and practically any Matter-compatible smart home app. Remote access and smart home integrations aside, however, the star feature is LuminBlend+.
We’ve encountered this new color management system (introduced with the Floor Lamp 3) in several recent reviews of Govee hardware, and its superior transitions across the RGBWWIC 5-in-1 LEDs are certainly worth consideration if the Govee Strip Light 2 is on your wishlist.
The RGBWWIC 5-in-1 LEDs, incidentally, combine RGB LEDs with warm and cool diodes (WW) with independent control chips (IC). So, you get to display multiple colors simultaneously with RGBWWIC, along with white lighting for greater depth.
Do you need this LED strip system?
LED-bases strip lights are becoming increasingly popular in homes with pale decor tones, where the RGBWWIC and 16 million colors enable a wide variety of atmospheres, ambiances, and hues. Govee has a good line on such systems, but the question has to be asked: do you need this one?
Well, the answer is straightforward: If you already have a reliable LED strip system with smart home compatibility, then no, you probably don’t need Govee’s Strip Light 2. But if you’re looking for a solution to warm LED-based ambiance, then a Matter-compatible LED strip lighting kit is a strong option – and Govee is a very good place to start. Note that the Govee line of strip lights is already pretty well-stocked, and avoid confusing this product with the more expensive Govee Strip Light 2 Pro.
