LG-owned brand Homey recently released new firmware with approximately 20 new features and fixes designed to better utilize the unified smart home standard.
Homey, notable for its user-friendly experience and powerful integrations, has been investing in Matter with support covering major device types and popular appliances, including lights, sensors, smart security devices, laundry appliances, refrigerators, and climate control devices.
The new update, version 12.7.0, mainly brings extra cluster support and improvements for existing Matter device types. For example, it adds features like an occupancy delay, better utilizing the capabilities of both Matter and Homey hubs.
What’s new?
For smart lights, you can now set the duration for on/off and dimming transitions. A power-on state feature is also enabled for Matter lights and other on/off device types. If a Matter device doesn’t natively support these features, the Homey hubs will take over and manage them from the controller side. Homey also adds a color looping effect to Matter lights.
For thermostats, you can now set temperature offsets, which is useful when a device’s built-in sensor is inaccurate.
For occupancy sensors, there’s a new option to configure a delay, which is useful for optimizing the performance of PIR sensors. This feature was recently seen on the Aqara Motion and Light P2 sensor, so Homey users will now be able to tune their sensors within the Homey ecosystem.

Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2
The Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, part number AS057, is a unique component of the Aqara smart home ecosystem, offering compatibility with the Matter protocol, and providing seamless integration with popular virtual assistants for enhanced home automation.
The update also adds support for various device alarms and notifications from Matter devices, such as door fault errors and smoke alarms.
Several updates improve the user experience. Homey has optimized its handling of devices with multiple identical clusters (for instance, a four-button switch) and will provide better device naming with the adoption of the Matter TagList. More Flow Cards have also been introduced to better automate Matter devices.
Homey also introduced several useful tools, including the ability to “re-interview” devices, an option for inverting blind controls, and new developer tools for advanced troubleshooting and maintenance.
In addition to new features, the version fixes issues with temperature unit conversion and energy measurements that occurred in certain cases.
