Smart bulb manufacturer Linkind has announced its collaboration with YouTube Jimmy Darts, with a range of Walmart-exclusive Matter smart home bulbs.
These bulbs will contribute to Jimmy’s mission to spread kindness, with $1 for every bulb sold donated to those in need.
Who is Jimmy Darts?
I’m glad you asked. I have no idea, so I looked him up – Jimmy Darts is “big” enough to have his own Wikipedia entry. Here I learned that his real name is Jimmy Kellogg, and he became a Christian “after watching a Billy Graham video,” and on another occasion attended a “capitalism conference” to learn how to operate an Amazon business.
I’ve heard of a few prominent YouTubers: MrBeast, Colin Furze, Rebecca Zamolo, and of course, PewDiePie. But I hadn’t previously heard of Jimmy Darts.
His YouTube channel has 3.97M subscribers, 601 videos, and every video is about giving or sharing. For example, he once helped a homeless man leave the streets, with support from donations to his YouTube channel. It’s a heartwarming place, but this team up still comes as a bit of a surprise.
On the plus side, of course, the opportunity to give $1 to good causes with every Matter-compatible light bulb is too good to miss.
So, what’s so good about Jimmy Darts’ smart lights?
Celebrity endorsements can mislead, but these Linkind smart light bulbs adorned with Jimmy Darts’ head offer stable connectivity, music-responsive lighting, and customizable illumination. Of course, some of these features will not be supported across Matter at this stage, but thanks to the smart home standard, they work with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.
Here’s a breakdown:
-
Stable and Fast Connectivity – The Linkind Matter smart light bulbs feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for seamless control at home or away, switching modes automatically to maintain a stable connection. A 99.5% first-try setup success rate is stated, which should make installation efficient, and the bulbs should reconnect within 5 seconds after a power outage (once Wi-Fi is restored.)
-
Seamless Smart Home Integration – Integration with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings, for app and voice control.
-
Immersive Music-Responsive Lighting – Dynamic music synchronization with harmonized, unified rhythm or asynchronous modes to deliver an energetic, multi-color accompaniment to your favorite tunes.
-
Vivid, Customizable Illumination – 16 million colors are available, with adjustable white tones ranging from a warm 1,800K to a crisp 6,500K, and 104 preset lighting modes.
When can you get Jimmy Darts Matter bulbs?
If you’re interested in these bulbs, they’re available now, exclusively from Walmart. They appear to be variants of already existing bulbs, such as the A19 E26 bulbs.
Each pack has four bulbs:
Smart bulbs are an easy way into setting up your Matter smart home, so if you haven’t bought any yet, why not help good causes at the same time?
