Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has officially released its first Matter smart home device – a color smart bulb – in Germany.
The smart bulb was initially announced in late February, when Xiaomi listed the product on its global website. This release marks another step in the company’s commitment to the Matter standard, following the rollout of Matter support on its Hub 2S.
A basic Matter lightbulb
The Xiaomi Smart LED Bulb features a standard, rounded shape with an E27 screw base. It operates on 220–240 volts with a power consumption of 8.5 watts.
The bulb delivers up to 806 lumens, which is suitable for table lamps or small spaces. It supports both RGB and warm white modes, offering up to 16 million RGB colors and a color temperature range from 2700K to 6500K. Xiaomi claims the bulb can display 10 color presets and also supports custom scenarios.
Alongside Matter-over-Wi-Fi compatibility, the device carries Alexa and Google Home badges – signalling additional optimizations for those platforms. The bulb also integrates with Xiaomi Home and works within the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem.

A growing giant
Xiaomi recently reported its latest quarterly earnings, noting that connected IoT devices on the Xiaomi AIoT platform reached 943.7 million units – a 20.1% year-on-year increase as of March 31, 2025. The revenue for IoT and lifestyle products grew 58.7% year-over-year in the same period.
Xiaomi’s push for Matter compliance began last year, when it introduced Matter controller functionality to its multiprotocol smart hub. With the Smart Hub 2S, Xiaomi Home users can add Matter-compatible smart lights and plugs to their smart home setups. As it doesn’t have a Thread border router, Thread-based devices like Nanoleaf Essentials would require an initial setup with a Matter-enabled platform, then share them with Xiaomi Home.
The new smart bulb is available to order on the Xiaomi Germany website at a price of 12.99 euros ($14.69). Availability in other markets remains uncertain. As of publication, Xiaomi has not responded to Matter Alpha’s request for comment.
