Australian-based vendor, SmartSetup, is following up on its recent release of an in-wall outlet with the launch of a quartet of new smart home devices, each featuring Matter compatibility over Thread. SmartSetup's latest devices include a smart ambient night light, a four-channel relay, a water leak sensor, and a motor for controlling blinds and shades.
SmartSetup Smart Ambient Night Light: a high-powered lamp with a versatile design
First up is the SmartSetup Smart Ambient Night Light, a small yet powerful lamp which the company describes as "A modern connected lamp with soft illumination and next-generation smart-home technology." This versatile Matter-compatible lamp casts up to 2,000 lumens of bright, adjustable white light with color temperatures ranging from 2700k-6000k, making it well-suited for bedside tables and nurseries.

SmartSetup's lamp measures 14 × 9.5 × 5.5 cm (1.5 x 3.7 x 2.1 inches) and weighs just 0.26 kg (0.5 lbs). In addition to smart remote controls, the lamp has a physical power switch and capacitive buttons for adjusting color temperature on-device, and it even has a hidden built-in handle, useful for carrying the device from room to room or for hanging it on a hook.

SmartSetup Smart Voltage Relay: four channels for DIY wiring projects
Designed for DIYers, the SmartSetup Smart Voltage Relay gives users the ability to add Matter to garage door/gate openers, motors, pumps, light switches, and more. This tiny four-channel relay's construction consists of PC flame-retardant materials, safely supporting 5-volt USB/7-32-volt DC electrical loads, and is rated at a maximum of 16 amps.
While it doesn't appear to support energy monitoring, SmartSetup's relay is particularly notable as it is now just one of a small number of Matter-compatible relay switches with Thread connectivity. Most smart relays on the market—especially in North America—rely on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Zigbee hubs for pairing. SmartSetup's relay only needs a Matter Controller and Thread Border Router to get up and running.

SmartSetup Smart Chain Motor: a Matter upgrade for existing window coverings
Next is the SmartSetup Smart Chain Motor, a compact drive system that brings Matter-over-Thread remote control capabilities to existing window blinds and shades. SmartSetup markets the motor as featuring a "set and forget setup", with the device slipping easily onto a wide variety of solid and beaded-chain styles, and its ability to mount onto interior and exterior window frame locations.
The SmartSetup Smart Chain Motor is powered by an internal 3000mAh rechargeable battery that is capable of safely handling window covering loads up to ≤2.50KG (5.5 lbs). Although expected battery life isn't listed, SmartSetup provides an external solar panel with purchase, and it can be topped off at any time through its 5V USB-C port. Also included is a 9-channel 433MHz remote.

SmartSetup Smart Water Leak Sensor: flood protection with 5-year battery life
Last but not least, the SmartSetup Smart Water Leak Sensor aims to prevent costly flood repairs with its ability to detect liquid at levels of 0.5mm (0.02 inches). The company's wireless water leak sensor appears to be based on the HEIMAN L1 detector, with the device sporting an identical cylindrical design and the same IP67 dust and waterproof rating.
According to SmartSetup, the smart water leak sensor features ultra-low power consumption with Thread, providing up to 5 years of protection with the included 3V CR2032 coin-cell lithium battery. Thread also gives the sensor an extensive wireless coverage range of up to 30m (98 feet) and, of course, the ability to pair it with any of the major smart home ecosystems thanks to Matter.
