Major Matter device maker SwitchBot has received a new Matter certification, as listed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), suggesting an upcoming update will enable Matter support for its humidifiers.
This move is part of SwitchBot’s broader effort to bring native Matter support to more of its products – moving beyond its current Matter bridge solution. With the update, we may soon see one of the first Matter-native humidifiers on the market.
SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier
SwitchBot currently offers two humidifier models – one with auto-fill functionality and one without. Both feature a sleek, modern design with a clean white finish.
Each model includes a 4.5L water tank that delivers up to 750ml/h of vaporization, allowing for full-day operation on a single fill. The humidifier supports scheduling, timers, and level control, and can be automated via other smart home devices such as humidity sensors.
The device also includes a seven-layer filtration system to produce clean, hydrated air and uses cold evaporation technology. The auto-refill version can work with a SwitchBot S10 household
robot for water refill automatically. A quiet mode is available, operating at just 18 dB to reduce noise and maintain a peaceful home space.
What’s the Matter availability?
According to the certification documents, the humidifier will appear as a fan device on Matter platforms. This allows basic controls such as on/off toggling and vaporization speed adjustment.
However, despite supporting the Matter 1.4 specification, the device does not use the official Matter humidifier device type – a small compromise in user experience. The upside is that this approach may offer better compatibility, since not all platforms currently support the new humidifier type.
Like most of SwitchBot’s Matter devices, the humidifier will connect via Wi-Fi.
SwitchBot told Matter Alpha that the update is expected to arrive in August and will support both the original and auto-fill models. Users will be able to install the update through the SwitchBot app once it becomes available.
