SwitchBot has launched the Relay Switch 2PM, a compact Matter-over-Wi-Fi relay designed to retrofit traditional switches with smart functionality. The name reflects its key features: "2" for dual-channel control and "PM" for power measurement. Priced at $21.99, the Relay Switch 2PM follows an iconic design and naming structure, making it instantly recognizable within the smart relay market.
The smart relay market remains a niche segment, with Matter-enabled relays still relatively rare. Currently, Sonoff has two available, while Shelly has yet to roll out a Matter update for its Gen 3 product line. Meanwhile, Tapo has recently secured Matter certifications for unannounced models, but no official details have surfaced. With the Relay Switch 2PM, SwitchBot is stepping into an emerging space, offering a locally controlled, Matter-ready solution ahead of many competitors.
Compact design and flexible integration
The relay has a sleek design, measuring 42 x 36 x 16 millimeter and weighing 27 grams, the Relay Switch 2PM fits discreetly into switch boxes. In comparison, Shelly 2PM Gen3 measures 42 x 37 x 16 millimeters and weighs 30 grams.

SwitchBot Relay Switch 2PM
A smart dual-channel relay switch with power monitoring, Wi-Fi connectivity, voice control, and built-in safety features for efficient home automation.
SwitchBot's relay supports both AC (100-240V) and DC (24-30V) power inputs, allowing control of up to two devices. The switch requires a neutral wire for AC installations and supports both switch modes and cover modes.
In addition to native Matter integration, the relay can manage up to 10 SwitchBot Bluetooth devices within its ecosystem, extending Bluetooth coverage.
Built-in power monitoring and protection
With power monitoring, users can track daily and monthly electricity consumption, view voltage and current data, and generate energy usage graphs. SwitchBot offers one year of free cloud data storage, with export options for deeper analysis. Notably, the relay can also monitor solar panel power levels, adding value for energy-conscious users.
However, according to its certification, it adopts Matter 1.0 spec, meaning these measurements won’t be accessible from Matter platforms; an update, with specs at least Matter 1.3 is required for such features.
Safety features include overload protection, which disconnects output in case of excessive power draw, and overtemperature protection, which shuts down the device if temperatures exceed 100° C.
SwitchBot is making its move
With dual-channel operation, energy monitoring, and local automation, the SwitchBot Relay Switch 2PM is a practical option for those looking to modernize their electrical setups without replacing existing decor plates and switches.
SwitchBot is positioning itself as a serious contender in the space. By offering variations for different wiring needs and power sources, the brand isn’t just targeting casual users – it’s expanding toward DIYers and professionals who work with electrical installations.
SwitchBot Relay Switch 2PM is now available on its official website. It’s listed on Amazon too but yet to be available at the moment.
