SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo review: Does doing more mean doing less?

A clever combo of robot and stick vac with Matter support, the K10+ Pro Combo excels at convenience — but not at deep cleaning.

The SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo is a funny hybrid kind of robot vacuum, consisting of a comparatively tiny floor robot, small stick vacuum, and smart charging/empty station. It sort of does mopping too, but only in the sense you can attach a wet wipe to the base; it’s not one of those fancy things with a water reservoir and spinning pads that clean themselves. The base station is strictly for charging and emptying the dust bins of both the robovac and the stick vac.

It’s also a "true" Matter-compatible robot vacuum, which means it has full support for the specification and isn’t just a simple on/off toggle. The problem is that in trying to do so many things, it doesn’t really excel at any of them. It’s not a bad device by any means, but the compact nature of the robovac means it won’t be suitable for large apartments, lots of pet hair or heavy-duty use; the dust bin is full before it’s finished a single room. Arguably, the stick vacuum is the most impressive part of this combo. But is its inclusion admitting — or embracing — the inherent limitations of the robot vacuum?

Performance

Let’s start with the robot vacuum part of the equation.

Anecdotally, the robovac just didn’t feel up to the job. It’s acceptable and can handle a daily light cleaning, but it seemed to miss bits that I would have expected it to pick up, especially with a quoted 3000Pa suction power. It does a decent enough job of mapping an area and is adept at fitting into tighter spaces like between chairs, and up to corners and walls, but doesn’t have any advanced AI detection (so you better hope your pets don't leave a present).

Mopping performance was about what you’d expect from a wet wipe, because that’s what it is. I tried a targeted test, in manual mode, running it back and forth over a little coffee stain on a tiled floor. After five attempts, it had made little impact.

The biggest problem is that the dust bin is too small, so there’s always something left. You can adjust the emptying frequency, but the highest setting is every 60 minutes. It doesn't have a sensor that says it's full, so after ten minutes of cleaning, it was full. Naturally, the rest of that cleaning session didn't achieve much.

We're dirtier than average, I guess. Living on a homestead with two dogs and a child will do that. The K10+ Pro just isn't up to a heavy workload.

On the other hand, I’ve not had a portable stick vacuum before — I’ve always used a combination of full upright monsters and large robot vacuums — but the combination of it being always ready when needed, and automatically emptied into the same base station, is really convenient.

The four different heads and extension tube tackle a variety of surfaces, and I especially liked the one designed for soft bedding and such. Convenience is the key word here. Death Claw skull looking a bit dusty? I'll have that sorted in no time.

In contrast to the robovac, this has up to 20,000Pa suction power, though you do have to turn on boost mode to get that. The floor vacuum head is especially impressive due to the inclusion of a spinning beater bar and green light which shines out to highlight any bits on the floor really easily, as well as a rotating neck to fit in tight places. The stick vacuum definitely fills a need around the home that I didn’t know I had.

Matter and Smart Features

In terms of smart features, the K10+ Pro Combo doesn’t have anything we haven’t seen before in the last few years. It’s still impressive, but I can’t point to one major feature and tell you “this is new”. That means it maps your home using LiDAR, navigates fairly intelligently, and can be virtually restricted to specific rooms or areas. It can be scheduled, the auto-empty times can be adjusted (in case you’re running it at night), and every aspect is highly customizable.

In addition, as of April 2025, the K10+ Pro is officially supported by Matter with full specifications implemented — not just an on/off button. And this doesn’t require a SwitchBot hub as it did previously; it’s directly from the device itself via Matter over Wi-Fi.

Via Matter, your smart home platform of choice (depending on that system’s level of Matter support because while the vacuum may offer the Matter protocol, if your smart home platform is stuck on version 1 of Matter, it may not support vacuums) will be able to command the K10+ Pro to start just vacuuming, start vacuum and mopping, change the suction power, or head home to the dock. But the mopping isn’t automatic, so that option seems pointless; you still need to attach the mop head and a wet wipe. You can also play a sound to locate your vacuum.

That said, you’ll need the SwitchBot app to set all of that up anyway, as well as if you want to restrict the area it’s working on, remote control it, create the maps, or adjust any of the settings like automated schedules (the first two screenshots above are of Matter control via HomeKit; the last is the SwitchBot app). Though I suppose technically you could also set up a scheduled clean within Matter, not being able to choose rooms or areas of cleaning is a massive limitation

Suffice to say it’s confusing. By being a one-size-fits-all protocol, Matter does have inherent limitations of not being able to support anything more than the basics, and that’s always going to be true, because why would manufacturers not invent new features that can differentiate them? In practice, I found myself not using the Matter control for anything beyond seeing if it worked.

This all relates to the robovac portion of the K10+ Pro Combo, I should note. The stick vacuum doesn’t have specific smart features, because other than being emptied automatically, it’s a largely manual affair. That's not a criticism; it doesn't need anything more.

The Subscription That’s Not a Subscription

One thing that’s quite frustrating for me is the replacement bags for the base station, which currently cost £20 plus £5 delivery for four in the UK — or about $10 each. Ours was filled in about a month, so that’s essentially a £75 a year subscription to use the thing.

Apparently, they should last just over two months each. The issue is that these bags are specific to the K10+ Pro Combo; they have two holes, not one. I can find hundreds of cheaper options for the basic K10+… but not the Combo. They’re different, so be careful when shopping for bags.

Hopefully, there’ll be some cheaper, generic options soon, because £25 for four is outrageous. But I'll note, the same is not true in the US, where they're $15 for a four-pack with free delivery!

Should You Buy the K10+ Pro Combo?

While I’m disappointed in the overall performance of the robovac side of things, the package as a whole is a strong one and more useful than a robovac alone. It’s all integrated neatly, with Matter support, and all the innovative features you’d expect from a mid-range robovac. It seems ideally suited as a secondary device; something you might set up in the corridor, rather than the kitchen.

You can work around the performance limitations by simply running it more often, of course. Instead of activating it when things look a bit too messy, a daily schedule works best. At least, it would for me if the dog didn’t vehemently believe the robovac is the devil incarnate and my floor plan didn’t change weekly.

In truth, I found the upright stick vacuum to be a fantastic addition to the house. It’s incredibly convenient, and surprisingly powerful, able to do stairs and small spaces effectively without having to grab the massive shop vac. The adaptable head with front lighting is great for tight spaces that might otherwise not get much cleaning love, and the fabric head is perfect for anyone with pets.

So overall? The SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo is an interesting set that allows it to tackle more daily cleaning tasks than your average robovacs, though it might not be suitable for really large spaces that want the most powerful robovac possible.
