Apple Finally Supports Air Purifiers: AiDot WELOV P200 Pro Is The First
The P200 Pro offers manual air purifier controls and exposes the air quality sensor data to your Matter network.

I first reviewed the AiDot WELOV P200 Pro five months ago. At the time, I noted how the hardware was great and the automatic mode was really all you need—but despite the hardware supporting Matter, and Apple Home successfully recognizing it as a Matter device which you could add to your home, you couldn’t actually do anything with the P200 Pro over Matter on iOS. That's because Apple didn't yet recognize the controls for an air purifier (though Google Home did).
While air purifiers have been part of the Matter spec for at least a year, not all Matter smart home ecosystems fully support them yet. With the release of iOS 18, that all changes. Finally, you can say “Siri, purify my air”.
“Expanding compatibility with Apple Home means more convenience and control for our users.” said Kevin Bright, Communications Director at WELOV. “We are thrilled to align our products with Apple’s ecosystem, giving users an intuitive and fully integrated way to manage their air purification needs.”
While it’s great that Apple Home finally supports the air purifier device type, it’s worth noting that the specification was initially announced a year ago. From a consumer perspective, it's not a great experience to buy a Matter-compatible device and then find out it's not compatible with your choice of Matter controller—especially when the whole premise of Matter is to be as universal as possible.
How to Add the P200 Pro to Apple Home with iOS 18
If you've already added your P200 Pro to Apple Home, you'll need to remove it, as it won't automatically support the new features. You should also upgrade to iOS 18, and once that's completed, your Matter controller (such as HomePod, or HomePod Mini) must also be updated. Although your HomePod should automatically update, it may take a while before it's completed—I had to wait until the following morning.
When everything is updated, power cycle your P200 Pro, and add a new accessory to Apple Home by scanning the Matter code on the rear of the device. You should be able to successfully add the P200 Pro as an air purifier—and you'll get access to air quality sensor data, too. You can then assign that to the correct room, and use it in automation or set up alerts.
If you haven’t updated to iOS18 yet or don't want to, the P200 pro is a superb air purifier even without Matter integration. The unique Apple Health integration automatically sets up the nighttime quiet operation mode using your sleep data, which is great for those with allergies who need to leave the device on all the time, while the built-in air quality monitors enable it to operate autonomously without the complexity of automation routines; it just works.
The P200 Pro with Matter over Wifi support retails at $170 on Amazon, but for a short time you’ll find a $50 on-page coupon, bringing it down to $120.
