Following the launch of the world's first Matter-compatible low-voltage landscape transformers last year, DEWENWILS is back at it again with today's release of another first-of-its-kind smart solution for the great outdoors. Just in time for spring—and the upcoming summer season—the all-new DEWENWILS Matter Smart Pool Pump Timer aims to cut down on maintenance time and energy costs through schedules, automation, and remote app controls.
A dual voltage power supply for pool pumps and more
Available in 120 and 240-volt models, the DEWENWILS Matter Smart Pool Pumps appear to be a sleeker, more slimmed-down version of the company's aforementioned low-voltage transformers, measuring just 9.36" x 4.21" x 7.77". The pool timers sport a similar industrial, all-gray design, complete with IP44 weatherproof rated seals and corrosion-resistant solid metal enclosures, allowing them to operate year-round in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 140°F.
Inside, however, is a different story with the pool pump timer sporting a set of five screw terminals that support up to two 120-volt loads—a big departure from the DIY-friendly wire clamps found on the previous release. Even with the change, DEWENWILS still touts the timers as being approachable for first-timers and installers with a streamlined wiring system that reduces complexity by forgoing the need for jumpers.

Despite being specifically marketed for pool pumps, the timers are also suitable for use with water heaters, fans, outdoor lighting, fountains, and more. Each timer supports electrical loads up to 40 amps total, as well as two or three-horsepower motors, with the slightly higher rating being reserved exclusively for the 240-volt model.
As with previous DEWENWILS products, the pool pump timers are Matter-over-Wi-Fi devices, with smart home connectivity operating over 2.4GHz networks without the need for an additional hub. Thanks to Matter, the pool timers support hassle-free pairing through the usage of a QR code, and can be set up in minutes directly with smart home ecosystems such as SmartThings, Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home.
Through Matter, users can expect to see basic on/off power functionality exposed to their preferred ecosystem, making it available for use with voice commands and convenient tap controls. Matter also enables interoperability with other third-party devices via automation, scenes, and routines, although features may vary according to the chosen ecosystem.
DEWENWILS also offers its own mobile app, although it is not currently clear whether the timers support it at this time. Unfortunately, DEWENWILS' marketing materials also do not mention energy monitoring capabilities, something that would pair well with such devices.

The DEWENWILS Matter Smart Pool Pump Timer is now available for purchase in North America through Amazon, with the earliest deliveries slated for next week with Prime delivery.
