China-based DEWENWILS Network Technology Company has released a new Matter-compatible low-voltage transformer for the U.S. market. Tailored for outdoor environments, the new release allows users to remotely control connected pathway, deck, and landscape lighting from their favorite smart home ecosystem.

To the best of our knowledge, the DEWENWILS Matter Low Voltage Landscape Transformer appears to be the first available Matter-compatible solution for hardwired outdoor lighting. The transformer features stainless steel construction with measurements of 19 x 10 x 8 inches, and is designed for wall mount installations indoors and out with weather and corrosion resistance.
The 300-watt transformer converts 120-volt AC down to either 12 or 14V—selectable via the available wire terminals—each of which are covered by overcurrent and overload protections that automatically shut the unit off to prevent accidental damage. It also offers a mostly tool-free installation experience, thanks to a built-in cord/plug and its clamp-connect terminal system that uses levers instead of tiny screws to hold wiring in place.
Once installed, the DEWENWILS transformer provides three independent zones for controlling multiple areas or lighting groups around the home. And, when it comes to smart home connectivity, the transformer is compatible with existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks without the need for an additional hub.
Smart features include scheduling, timers, and automation, either through the DEWENWILS app or via any one of the major Matter platforms such as Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, or Apple Home. Additional details surrounding its smart home features are currently unknown, but according to the device's CSA listing, the transformer was certified against the Matter 1.0 specification back in June of 2024.
