Following the North American launch earlier this year, LG has announced global availability for its affordable Homey Pro mini smart home hub. Starting today, smart home enthusiasts and newcomers alike across Europe and other regions can consolidate their devices into one compact, do-it-all hub.

According to Homey, the Pro mini offers support for the most essential smart home devices, protocols, and standards right out of the box. The Pro mini can connect directly with devices over Thread, Zigbee, and Ethernet without the need for vendor-specific hubs, and it works with all of the major smart home platforms via Matter.

Homey's smaller hub is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core ARM CPU and features 1GB of RAM for fast performance and increased reliability. The Pro mini also sports 8GB of onboard flash storage, which enables it to run up to 20 apps with minimal cloud dependencies, leading Homey to tout it as being a privacy-first smart home solution.

While the Pro mini should be suitable for most smart homes, LG still recommends the flagship Homey Pro hub for more advanced setups. The larger Pro can handle up to 60 apps with an additional GB of RAM, and it includes built-in support for Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, Infrared, and 433 MHz devices—all of which (minus Wi-Fi) require a separate Homey Bridge to add to the mini.

Both the Homey Pro and Pro mini hubs work with the recently released Matter Bridge app, which exposes previously unsupported devices to Matter. Supported device types include:

  • On/Off Lights, Dimmable Lights, Color Lights & Temperature Lights
  • Plug-in Sockets
  • Thermostats
  • Locks
  • Blinds, Curtains, Roller Shutters
  • Door/Window Sensors
  • Temperature & Humidity Sensors
  • Motion & Occupancy Sensors
  • Air Quality Sensors
  • CO2 & Smoke Alarms

From there, users can control these devices through the most popular voice assistants/ecosystems such as SmartThings, Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home.
