Furniture giant Ikea saw a new smart lamp, Blomprakt, in FCC filings on Monday, signaling ongoing efforts within the company to expand its smart home product lineup.
The product, named Blomprakt, is derived from a Swedish word meaning “beautiful flora” in English. The FCC filings indicate the product operates within the 2.402-2.48 GHz range, a radio band commonly shared by Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Thread technologies. According to TÜV certification, the product, identified as model E2503, is categorized as both a luminaire and radio equipment. This means it is a light fixture with wireless communication capabilities – in other words, a smart light.
Will the Blomprakt be Matter compatible?
Ikea traditionally uses Zigbee for its smart lighting products. If this is the case with Blomprakt, it should be compatible with Matter platforms via a Dirigera hub or other universal Matter bridges, such as the ThirdReality or Hue Bridge.

Smart Bridge MZ1
The Smart Bridge MZ1 by ThirdReality is a Matter-certified gateway that connects Zigbee devices to the Matter ecosystem, enhancing compatibility with a wide range of smart home products.

Philips Hue Bridge
The Philips Hue Bridge, a gateway device by Signify, uses Zigbee for instant light response and enables Matter, a universal smart home standard, allowing seamless integration with other smart home brands and ensuring your lighting and accessories are always connected, even when Wi-Fi is down.
The TÜV database further suggests that Blomprakt will launch in the European Union, Japan, and the United States, indicating a broader international rollout. Additional product details, including a photo, are expected to be uploaded to the FCC database once the product reaches the market.
Ikea has been highly active in the smart home space and has quickly embraced Matter. The company first introduced a Matter bridge in its Dirigera hub in beta, initially supporting smart lights. Subsequently, Ikea released official firmware updates to enable most of its Zigbee products – including Tradfri lights, air purifiers, and motion sensors – to be exposed to Matter platforms. The Dirigera hub now serves as a Matter bridge for these devices.
Meanwhile, Ikea is making moves with native Matter devices. Earlier this year, a Matter-over-Thread thermometer Timmerflotte was spotted in the FCC database, manufactured by Ikea’s regular partner KeeTat. Matter leaker @CyberModStudio also suggested that Ikea is internally testing a dual-key shortcut button with both Matter and Thread support.
