The eufy FamiLock E40 is the most advanced model in the new FamiLock range, combining three devices that are typically purchased separately: a smart lock, a video doorbell, and a security camera. Rather than relying primarily on fingerprints or passcodes, the E40 uses facial recognition as its main access method, allowing registered users to unlock the door simply by approaching it. Facial data is processed and stored locally on the device, avoiding the need to upload biometric information to the cloud.
What makes the E40 stand out from most smart locks is its integrated surveillance functionality. The built-in 2K camera provides a head-to-toe view of visitors, making it easier to see not only who is at the door but also packages placed on the ground. A 60GHz radar sensor is used for human detection, helping the system distinguish people from pets, passing vehicles, moving branches, or other environmental activity that can trigger false alerts on traditional motion sensors.
The lock is designed to serve as a central entry-point device within the wider eufy ecosystem. When paired with HomeBase 3, users gain access to additional AI-powered features and can connect the lock with other eufy security products. Matter support allows the lock to be added to major smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and other Matter-compatible platforms. While the lock functions integrate with Matter today, camera and doorbell support remains dependent on individual platform support, meaning many users will continue to access video features through the eufy app.
Power is supplied by a large 15,000mAh rechargeable battery designed for extended operation, backed up by an integrated 800mAh reserve battery that automatically takes over during charging or when the primary battery becomes depleted. This dual-battery approach helps prevent lockouts while maintaining continuous operation of the lock and camera systems.
