A smart collection of new SmartWings blinds and switches was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SmartWings, boasts a focused range of Matter-compatible shades with ergonomic switches and remotes, designed for easy control of light in living areas. At an event that seemed to have Matter devices on every booth, it was interesting to see a brand offering such a focused collection.

SmartWings smart blinds and shades

SmartWings’ motorized blinds and shades have seamless integration (via Matter, Thread, Zigbee, and Z-Wave) with the leading smart home ecosystems like Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. This means complete control over light and shade from almost any mobile device or smart assistant.

SmartWings pentagon window shades

Touring the SmartWings stand at CES, we saw its broad selection of shades and blinds first-hand. These don’t just offer the standard blackout experience, either – different fabrics are employed to offer a varied shading experience. Woven wood, for example, lines up alongside cellular shades, and customization options are available.

SmartWings arched window shades

In a world where no too windows are the same, this is a game changer. Cellular shades can be adapted for arched windows; pentagon windows can also be completely shaded with SmartWings. This means that unusually shaped portions of windows no longer need to be left covered. Instead, the unique shape of your home’s apertures can be fully appreciated.

Matter-compatible rollers and motors

Enabling improved remote control over blinds and shades is Matter, which has become a key element of SmartWings products over the past few years. These have evolved from standard rollers into the devices we saw at CES 2026, almost whisper-silent controllers that open and close blinds at command or as part of a schedule.

We saw rollers and blinds in action, available for testing via remote, with sunrise/sunset automation, scheduling, and voice control.

We also learned more about SmartWings’ aims to improve each household’s home-energy goals via intelligent integrations. Daylight, sensors, and thermostats can work together with a SmartWings blind to achieve improved efficiency for heating and cooling systems.

And it was good to see a reminder that SmartWings supports direct Thread pairing to Apple Home on iPhone 15 and above.

SmartWings, smart homes, and CES

In past years, more smart home tech has been unveiled at IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin, which takes place in late summer in Berlin) than at CES. Looking at the state of play over the past two years, Matter seems to be gaining prominence at CES.

But SmartWings growing line of smart blinds and shades also tells us something else. Soft furnishings are as much a part of the smart home world as motion sensors, vacuum cleaners, locks, and hubs. Motorized blinds are a key component of a modern connected home, and are as important to energy management as they are comfort.

SmartWings’ products are quite unusual in that they incorporate what we might call “traditional tech” into a domestic setting, with very little evidence beyond remote controls and the gentle hum of blinds being lowered.
