Aqara has expanded its Matter lighting lineup in China with an E14 version of its LED Bulb T2 and a new multicolor LED Strip T2, bringing more options for decorative and everyday lighting.

The new releases follow Aqara's broader push into smart lighting this year, including the H1 downlights and spotlights introduced in August and a larger global lighting lineup showcased at IFA 2026.

A rare E14 option for Matter over Thread

The new LED Bulb T2 adds an E14 screw-base version to the existing T2 family, which already includes E26/E27-style bulbs and GU10 spotlights.

E14 is commonly used in smaller decorative fixtures, such as bedside lamps, chandeliers and wall sconces, particularly in Europe and China. However, it remains a relatively underserved form factor among Matter-over-Thread bulbs, with many available alternatives still relying on Zigbee or Wi-Fi.

The new bulb brings Aqara’s dual-protocol approach to these fixtures. It operates over Zigbee by default, allowing integration with Aqara Home, but users can switch it to Thread for direct Matter connectivity through a compatible Thread border router.

The RGB version offers 16 million colors and an adjustable color temperature range of 2,000K to 9,000K. Aqara also rates it at Ra90 for color rendering and up to 1,100 lumens, matching the brightness rating of the larger T2 bulb family.

That makes it useful beyond decorative color effects, with enough flexibility for both everyday white lighting and colorful ambient scenes.

The bulb also supports Apple Home Adaptive Lighting, which automatically adjusts white color temperature throughout the day.

T2 light strip brings more color control

Aqara has also launched its multicolor LED Strip T2 in China, an upgrade from the earlier Zigbee-only T1 strip.

The T2 generation introduces more detailed control over lighting zones, allowing different sections of a strip to display separate colors rather than applying one color across its entire length.

The global LED Strip T2 introduced at IFA features 108 LEDs per meter, with 18 independently controllable zones for every meter. It uses a five-channel lighting system with 16-bit control, designed to provide smoother gradients and more precise adjustments.

The strip also supports a wide 2,000K to 9,000K color temperature range, allowing it to work as indirect white lighting under cabinets, behind furniture or along ceilings when colorful effects are not needed.

Like other recent Aqara lighting products, the T2 family supports Zigbee and Matter over Thread, offering users a choice between Aqara app and third-party smart home platforms. More advanced animated effects and individual zone settings may still require Aqara app, as Matter does not necessarily expose the same level of control over multicolor lighting.

An expanding Matter lighting portfolio

The releases are part of Aqara’s wider effort to cover more types of home lighting with products supporting both Zigbee and Thread.

Earlier this year, Aqara introduced its H1 full-color downlights and spotlights in China, focusing on natural-looking white light, subtle colors and deep dimming for built-in ceiling installations.

At IFA 2026, the company expanded that direction globally with new floor lamps, downlights, light strips and outdoor lighting.

The strategy gives Aqara users a more complete lighting system while allowing customers to choose Matter for direct integration with Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, and Home Assistant.

The trade-off remains that some proprietary lighting features are available only through Zigbee and Aqara Home.

Pricing and availability

The Aqara LED Bulb T2 E14 is available in China for 129 yuan (about $19.36). Aqara multicolor LED Strip T2 is priced at 379 yuan ($56.87). Global availability for the new products has not been announced. Aqara previously showcased the global LED Strip T2 at IFA, but has not provided a confirmed international retail launch date.
