Primary Matter device maker SwitchBot just had its video doorbell certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) on Monday, marking a strong competitor to brands like Aqara.

Doorbell Camera Hub G410
The Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410 is a 2K-resolution smart doorbell that doubles as a Matter-ready smart home hub, offering enhanced person detection with mmWave technology and broad ecosystem compatibility.
The new product, SwitchBot Video Doorbell Monitor, is an expansion of its current Matter and home security lineup, as well as a new exploration into home console devices after the release of SwitchBot Hub 3.

A versatile smart home hub with real-time monitoring, intuitive controls, and voice assistant compatibility for seamless automation.
A stylish doorbell kit
The kit has two parts – one installed outdoors for camera capture and the doorbell button, and the other a small dock or display for camera streaming and access control.
Both have a silver, rounded design. The camera part also has two flashlight-like components, indicating its ability for enhanced night view. As the product description notes, the doorbell camera is powered by batteries with low-power tech for extended usage.

A smart video doorbell with an indoor monitor and remote access for safer, more convenient visitor interactions.
The indoor controller has a 4.3-inch display, which can display the current time and stream the camera feed with a single press. You can also use the vendor app to view the camera, as the product description states.
The device works via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with Matter 1.4 certification as a Matter bridge primary, according to the certification details.
The compliance files show the device has an “all-device-type” Matter bridge, suggesting it’s future-proof to bridge all kinds of SwitchBot accessories via LAN or Bluetooth to Matter platforms. A notable finding is the door lock cluster, which suggests the doorbell can bind with a SwitchBot door lock and expose it to Matter, while managing it on the indoor display. This could be a great attraction for users who have invested in their recent door lock and keypads.
However, as Matter 1.5 is around the corner, it would be important to have a Matter-native doorbell camera. Considering SwitchBot has a routine of bringing its older vacuum models to native Matter via firmware updates, we may expect this model to add Matter 1.5 support. As of press time, SwitchBot has yet to comment on the product or a Matter upgrade plan.
