A pair of new Matter-compatible products have landed on Amazon from Tevinge—the Tevinge Smart Plug and the Tevinge Smart Valve Controller. Both devices support Matter-over-Thread connectivity, providing the ability to remotely control older appliances and instantly shutoff utility lines at an affordable price.
Tevinge Smart Plug: energy monitoring and Thread built-in
While there are plenty of Matter-compatible smart plugs readily available, only a handful support Thread wireless connectivity. With Thread onboard, Tevinge's plug pairs directly with the most popular smart home ecosystems without the need for a vendor-specific bridge or app—it only requires an active Matter Controller and Thread Border Router.
Tevinge also markets the plug as featuring energy monitoring capabilities; however, without an app, users will need to rely on their ecosystem to provide the data—something that few currently offer despite being introduced with the release of Matter 1.3. Outside of Thread and energy monitoring, Tevinge's offering is pretty much par for the course when it comes to North American smart plug specs with support for 15A/1,800-watt electrical loads, and an operating temperature range of -4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tevinge Smart Valve Controller: protection from water and gas leaks
Details surrounding Tevinge's Smart Valve Controller are scarce, but its product listing reveals that it is designed to clamp onto existing water and gas ball valves—similar to other Matter-compatible shutoff valves. Tevinge's technical specifications indicate that it is slightly larger than average, with measurements of 6 x 2.64 x 6 inches, but it is unique in that it is available in two finishes: white and black.
In addition to remote app and voice controls, the valve sports an on-device activation button and what appears to be a locking mechanism to prevent accidental presses. As with the company's smart plug, the valve is ready for pairing right out of the box thanks to its Thread radio, making it well-suited for use in conjunction with a Matter water leak sensor.
