If you’re interested in expanding the possibilities of your smart home set-up, you’ve probably already considered a robot cleaner. Typically equipped with vacuum and mopping functionalities, these devices scoop up dust and hair around your home, conveniently cleaning along the most power-efficient routes.

Matter-certified robot vacuum cleaners have become more prominent recently, thanks to the Matter 1.4 specification. This enables specific room selection for cleaning, and with Matter 1.4 now widely available, support for the future-proofed connectivity standard plays an important part of your robot cleaner decision in 2026.

We’ve compiled a list of the best Matter 1.4 robot cleaners, for optimum smart home cleaning.

Most incredible robot cleaner: Roborock Saros Z70 Robot Vacuum

Roborock saros z70 arm lifestyle 2

This is perhaps the most audacious robot cleaner yet. Forget cleaning in corners and going upstairs. With the Saros Z70 from Roborock, you get a robot that actually tidies up for you.

You may have seen the Roborock Saros Z70 in videos on social media. It features a retractable robot OmniGrip Arm that picks up items – socks, shoes, small toys, etc. – and deposits them in a pre-determined location. And of course it can clean (22,000Pa suction) and mop and dry.

Meanwhile, this robot cleaner can cope with hazards like cables, irregular walls, and can climb onto flooring 4cm above the standard height of your room, with a chassis system called AdaptiLift. The mob retracts to 22mm, and meanwhile the unit is just 3.14-inches high, making it one of the slimmest robot cleaners around.

The Saros Z70 uses dual cameras and can do all the things other Roborock cleaners can, such as detect pets and their, uh, mess.

This is the pinnacle of robot vacuum cleaner tech, and as such is priced to match.

Most affordable Matter robovac: Dreame D20 Plus

If cost is a concern, and you need some automation to tidy your floors, the Dreame D20 Plus is a strong option for tight budgets.

It boasts 13,000Pa suction, and includes a self-emptying (up to 5 liters of storage) recharging station. The Duo Brush feature is designed to handle pet hair (shed hair can be a problem for robot cleaner rolling brushes) and the brushes are long enough to dislodge muck embedded between flooring tiles or boards. There’s also LiDAR for mapping and routing, which means it can operate in the dark.

The Dreame D20 Plus also mops with a 350ml water tank and 32 levels of mopping moisture, which should help to shift stubborn dirt. Suitable for hard floors, tiles, and carpets alike, this is a great entry level robot cleaner with Matter support.

Best square robovac: Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

This square-edged cleaner has impressive edge-to-edge cleaning, and claims a 99.8% improvement on cleaning coverage compared with competing devices.

With hot water support (many older robovacs only use cold water), 8000Pa suction and a 15mm lift feature for rugs and carpets, the X2 Omni also has mapping and object avoidance.

The X2 Omni also has a self-emptying docking station, where the robovac cleans itself and recharges. Don't worry about the shape -- square robot cleaners can potentially reach places disc-shaped cleaners cannot.

Most compact robot cleaner: SwitchBot K11+

SwitchBot is one of the more interesting smart home companies, with a collection of retrofit and modern hardware. Its robot cleaning range, for example, is occasionally accompanied by a handheld upright cleaner, but we’re more interested here in the SwitchBot K11+.

Most robovacs measure around 33cm in diameter, which is just over a foot.

The K11+, however, is just 24.8cm across, just under 10 inches. This makes it far more compact, making it able to access tighter spaces than some larger models. It has a serviceable rubber brush that is designed to resist hair tangling, and V-shaped side brush, with enough battery to handle 225 square meters of flooring before a recharge.

With 20,000Pa – suitable for multiple floor types – and a 4L dust bag in the docking station offering enough storage to only have to empty it every 70 days (around 4 times a year), the SwitchBot K11+ is also pretty quiet at 45dB.

Unlike earlier models, the SwitchBot K11+ does not require a SwitchBot Hub 2 or later, as it supports Matter over Wi-Fi.

Best flex-arm mop cleaner: Midea Eureka J15 Pro

Robot cleaner manufacturers are racing to finds an edge, some form of differentiation that will attract buyers who want more than just vacuuming and mopping. Several companies have hit upon the notion of extending mop arms, and currently the best option here is the Midea Eureka J15 Pro.

Offering 19,000 Pa suction, a recharging base with 75 days of emptying and maintenance, and obstacle avoidance, the Midea Eureka J15 Pro pairs a “square-round” chassis (a square with rounded edges) with the flex-arm mop to achieve a 99.95% edge coverage, a claim verified by German testing organization TÜV Rheinland. That extending arm certainly seems to make a difference, and we’re already seeing a similar feature being added to other robot cleaners.

This cleaner also features an Anti-Tangle FlexiRazor Brush, which cuts up hair and ensures it is vacuumed up, resulting in more efficient brushing.
