SONOFF has opened pre-orders for its updated in-wall central control panel, alongside a new set of Matter smart plugs for the EU market. The release comes from the company’s official product pages and focuses on combining local control, Matter bridging, and multi-protocol support in a single setup.

New Matter wall display

NSPanel Pro Gen2 adds relay control and more local hub features compared with last generation. The SONOFF NSPanel Pro Gen2 shifts closer to a full in-wall controller with built-in switching, rather than just a touchscreen interface.

It integrates a dual-channel relay rated at up to 5A per channel, allowing it to replace a traditional two-gang wall switch. The panel is designed to fit standard 86-type gang boxes and reuse existing wiring, which keeps installation simple.

The device runs on dual-band Wi-Fi and includes 2GB RAM with 32GB storage. SONOFF allows sideloading apps through F-Droid, which lets the panel run as a dedicated dashboard for Home Assistant without tinkering for root access.

For device connectivity, the panel includes a Zigbee 3.0 gateway based on the Silicon Labs MG24 chip. It can connect Zigbee devices locally and expose them through its built-in Matter bridge to platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. SONOFF and eWeLink Wi-Fi devices, along with devices synced from Home Assistant, can also be exposed through the Matter bridge.

Other hardware features focus on daily use. A proximity sensor wakes the screen when someone approaches, while an ambient light sensor adjusts brightness. The panel also includes a microphone array, speaker, temperature monitoring, and energy tracking.

New Matter plugs add power management support

SONOFF also released two new plugs under the SONOFF iPlug Gen2 S61s line, both using Matter over Wi-Fi.

The indoor model targets entry-level use with support for real-time energy monitoring, including voltage, current, power, and total consumption. In addition to vendor-side tracking, the plugs also expose power data through Matter’s energy reporting and management features, allowing compatible platforms to read and use the data directly.

That means platforms like Home Assistant, SmartThings, and IKEA Home Smart can display energy usage and build automations based on it, depending on their current Matter support.

The outdoor version, SONOFF S61s Outdoor, adds an IP44 rating and operates between -20°C and 50°C. It is designed for use cases such as garden lighting or outdoor equipment.

Both plugs should run on Matter 1.4 according to Matter certification filings and support up to 16A loads and include overload protection. The outdoor model can automatically cut power when limits are exceeded.

Diversifying Matter portfolio

The new lineup extends SONOFF’s move toward combining multiple roles in a single device, with a clear shift toward Home Assistant-centered integration.

The NSPanel Pro Gen2 works as a switch, a Zigbee gateway, and a Matter bridge at the same time. This reduces the need for separate hubs and supports more local control, especially when used with platforms like Home Assistant.

At the same time, the new plugs show how Matter over Wi-Fi is expanding into lower-cost devices while adding support for power reporting through the standard.

Together, the products point to a broader trend. Instead of adding more standalone devices, vendors are building hybrid hardware that can both control and connect a smart home system. However, SONOFF still avoids Thread, sticking with its established Wi-Fi and Zigbee empire, even as Thread adoption grows and more Wi-Fi and Zigbee device makers shift toward it.

Pre-orders for the NSPanel Pro Gen2 run through June 11 with a 10% discount, its shipments expected before June 15. The panel is available in two colors, dim gray and white, and SONOFF also offers an optional enclosure for desk use. The S61s smart plugs are now available on the vendor’s site and Amazon.
