This is Philips Hue’s first A19 bulb with built-in Matter-over-Thread support, designed to connect directly to any Matter-compatible app or platform without needing a Hue Bridge or third-party hub.

The bulb keeps the familiar Hue appearance, with its only noticeable update being a printed Matter setup code for easy onboarding. It features triple-protocol support: Bluetooth and Zigbee for Hue ecosystem use, and Thread for Matter connectivity. Unlike most smart bulbs, it can operate on Zigbee and Thread simultaneously, making it one of the first consumer devices to support multi-pan networking outside of hubs and gateways.
